Assoc. Prof. Rabia Kahveci, Turkey
Rabia Kahveci is the Chair of ANHTA (Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital HTA Unit) in Turkey. She is Director of International Affairs Office and Deputy Clinical Director and Associate Professor in Family Medicine Department in the same hospital.
Prior to Hospital-Based HTA, she worked in the Ministry of Health, Directorate of Pharmaceuticals and Pharmacies and conducted HTAs at the national level. She was a member of Reimbursement Committee for Pharmaceuticals of the Social Security, where she promoted HTA as an aid to policy decisions. She co-authored first pharmaceutical reimbursement guidelines that mandated pharmaco-economic analysis for the industry submissions.
Dr. Kahveci is the founding and immediate past President of the Turkish Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) Association, where she still leads HTA National Forum and HTA Stakeholder Roundtables. She is a Director of HTAi, Chair of HTAi Interest Group on Developing Countries and a steering committee member of Early Career Network. Since 2015, she has been leading Eurasian HTA Initiative that represents nine countries from Southeastern Europe and Central Asia.
Her focus is on developing HTA in emerging economies, considering the different priorities and challenges found in such countries. Rabia is a family doctor, has a master’s degree in health technology assessment and management and an associate degree in management of health institutions. She is married, and has two wonderful children.
Prof. Americo Cicchetti, Italy
Americo Cicchetti is Professor of Management at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, Faculty of Economics, in Rome. He is chief of Research of the Health Technology Assessment Unit (hospital based HTA Unit), “A. Gemelli” University Hospital, Scientific Director of the Master Program in Health Care Management at Catholic University, and member of the Scientific Committee of the International Master Program in Health Technology Assessment and Management (Ulysses Program). He is member of the Board of Directors of the Italian National Institutes of Health and served as Director of the Health Technology Assessment International from 2005-2008. He is currently Vice President and founder of the Italian Society of Health Technology Assessment, and Secretary of the Executive Board of Directors of HTAi. He chairs a strategic research program of the Ministry of Health, “Development of the health technology assessment framework for diagnostic technologies in the Italian NHS” (2007 - 2009). He was Member of the Steering Committee of the EUNetHTA Project, European Network of Health Technology Assessment (2006-2008) and he is now leading an Italian associated partner of the EUNEHTA Collaboration.
Professor Americo Cicchetti is member of the Editorial Board of the “International Journal of Technology Assessment in Health Care” and of the "Italian Journal of Public Health". In his professional activity he is Official Financial Auditor. (He was appointed by the Minister of Health as the Superior Council of Health Expert and member of the Pricing Committee and Italian Agency of Drug Reimbursement. As a member of the Commission of the Ministry of Health for the “Assessment of costs and programming of electro-technologies in the NHS, he chairs the “Costs” sub-group. He is a member of the scientific direction of the Journal of Health Organization, member of the editorial board of the Journal of Health Policy, and member of the scientific committee of the Scientific Though necklace Publisher Planning and Organization of Health Services.)
